Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for training clinical staff members (RNs, LVNs, MAs) involved with clinical research and standard of care coordination. Major functions include: clinical research in-service training, clinical competence assessment, research protocol procedure training, coaching, mentoring, patient assessment, patient evaluation, administration of clinical research drugs and other intravenous chemo and non-chemo therapeutic agents.


Salary range: $74.16/hr - $107.75/hr


Job Qualifications

Required:

  • BSN and MSN degree in Nursing
  • Possession of current California RN License
  • BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Possession of ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification
  • Possession of OCN Certification
  • Knowledge of the oncology patient population and outpatient community practice operations
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and administer patient treatments as needed
  • Knowledge of all aspects of infusion therapy in an oncology setting
  • Excellent blood withdrawal and IV skills
  • Knowledge and skill in Central Line Catheters, port-a-cath, and PICC line
  • Minimum of five years of acute care/oncology inpatient and/or outpatient experience
  • Experience in accurately screening and triaging acute patients
  • Knowledge to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to physicians
  • Skill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform necessary blood tests and provide infusion therapy
  • Experience as a charge RN and/or infusion center supervisor
  • Ability to accept direction from leadership and act promptly
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, peers, physicians, and administrators
  • Skill in listening perceptively, conveying awareness and responding to patients and visitors with health concerns using tact and discretion
  • Ability to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with patients, their families, and the general public in a high volume clinic setting
  • Skill in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions including the ability to accept equivocal circumstances and respond to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference and hostility
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with sensitive and confidential information using discretion and judgment
  • Available transportation to commute between Hem-Onc community offices

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of the UCLA EHR (Epic/CareConnect)
  • Knowledge and ability to understand, assume responsibilities, and perform duties associated with moderate complexity laboratory testing, including quality control, calibration, proficiency testing, as well as review and approval of test results prior to release
