36The Nurse Educator serves as an expert clinical practitioner who utilizes specialized knowledge, skill, research, and competency acquired through education and experience to collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to promote continuity of care for children and their families. The Nurse Manager assesses educational needs and subsequently develops and coordinates the education plan in collaboration with the Assistant Nurse Managers, Nurse Manager, and the Director.
The Nurse Educator assists with the orientation and training of the new employees and/or those pulled in the unit from other areas; Participates in the Quality improvement process by providing input and completion of audits; Provides input on employee performance appraisals; Adheres to hospital policies, including but not limited to confidentiality, attendance, safety and infection control; Participates with DCH leaders to provide and improve health care services that are responsive to the community and patients’ needs and improve health care outcomes in conjunction with the hospital mission.
