A registered professional nurse who provides educational opportunities including orientation programs, individual development plans, inservice education and continuing education opportunities. Identifies individual and departmental needs through needs assessment tolls and continuous quality improvement activities and arranges and/or presents program content. BLS/ACLS Instructor obtained within 1 year. If this position supports a clinical area there may be a clinical element within the role, supporting the unit and education.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Registered Nurse with current, unencumbered license in the State of Vermont. Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, supervisory, and teaching skills. Current BLS certification, Current ACLS, PALS or PEARS or provider. To obtain certification to become an instructor for BLS, ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and/or NRP (The certification for being an instructor is based on your background and unit(s) you support. If educator does not support any units then defaults to being a BLS Instructor for current unit). BSN required. Master’s degree in nursing education, or a related discipline preferred. If BSN, needs to have an approved plan of obtaining Master’s Degree in either Nursing or Education, and enrolled in a program within one year of hire. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the community, personnel throughout the organization, peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont is required. BSN required. Master’s degree in a nursing or education preferred (will consider other Master’s level degrees).
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience. Actively participates in professional organizations and/or institutional committees. Experience in educational/consultative role through professional and/or volunteer activities.
