Under the direction of the Manager of the Intensive Care Unit, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for ensuring all work is in alignment with the organizations missions, goals, values, and strategic plans to promote high quality, safe client care. This is accomplished by assisting in establishing and maintaining best practice; assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating unit orientation, clinical training and other educational programming; assessing learning needs; acting as a clinical resource; promoting client and family centered care; participating in committee work as assigned; participating in continuous improvement activities; developing and maintaining client and staff resources. The CNE will function as a member of the interprofessional clinical team to promote effective delivery of client care in the SHA, including direction and regular communication from the clinical area manager(s).The clinical nurse educator is a self-directed practitioner with strong communication skills who works in collaboration with interdisciplinary members to promote quality client and family centered care and cultural competence. The clinical nurse educator is an experienced practitioner with expert clinical knowledge and skills.The Clinical Nurse educator is an educator, clinical leader, change agent, facilitator, and consultant.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing
  • BLS/CPR-HCP provider Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor certification
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years recent full-time experience in critical care nursing
  • Experience in a clinical leadership role such as charge nurse, clinical coordinator, or equivalent.
  • Absence of any recent disciplinary action that would represent a limited capacity to fulfill a leadership role.

Licenses

  • Basic Life Support Instructor Certificate (BLS)
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HCP Certificate (CPR-HCP)

  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Previous experience in formal clinical teaching, mentoring, leading, and facilitating group activities, and coordinating quality improvement activities is preferred.
  • Canadian Nurses Association certification in the relevant nursing discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in program planning implementation and evaluation is preferred.
  • Applicants selected for an interview will be requested to do a 15 minute presentation on a topic related to the CNE clinical portfolio being applied for.
  • Experience with CRRT, post op Cardiac Surgery, and Ecmo is preferred.
