Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the incumbent will provide specialized psychiatric nursing care, including all aspects of the nursing process to patients experiencing a broad range of psychiatric, social and medical problems. In addition, provides staff supervision and assumes periodic charge nurse responsibilities.

Education

• Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN)

Other Education and Training

• Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable
• Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable
• Nursing diploma is acceptable

Knowledge and Abilities

• Knowledge of the the Provincial Mental Health Services Act and Regulations
• Competency in psychiatric nursing assessments, care planning & treatment
• The ability to demonstrate excellent working knowledge of psychiatric conditions
• Knowledge of commonly used psychotropic medications
• Ability to be flexible and willing to change
