Anticipated start date: January 20, 2026

Position Purpose

The School Nurse works under the supervision of the Head of School and is responsible for the health and medical care needs of students. The School Nurse supervises the Health Tech.


Job Duties

  • Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive health program for students and staff adhering to all CEC healthcare-related policies and procedures. Provides or delegates services including basic first aid for students and staff, care for ill students and staff, and emergency care for students and staff.
  • Effectively communicates with Head of School regarding communicable diseases and student who are severely ill or injured. Prepares health-related incident reports. Authorizes exclusion/readmission of student in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
  • Provides assessments, screenings, interventions, evaluations, counseling, management and/or referrals concerning the health and medical care needs of students. Works collaboratively with health care providers, students, parents, school staff, and community agencies to ensure access and continuity of care for students.
  • Maintains accurate student health records and documentation in accordance with state and federal law, and CEC policies. Submit accurate and timely reports to CSI and various health agencies as required.
  • Follows up with parents/guardians regarding immunizations per CEC policy and Colorado law.
  • Develops Health Care Plans when needed with specific goals, nursing diagnosis, and interventions for inclusion in a students Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
  • Serves as a member of various school teams as the designated health care professional at the request of the Head of School.
  • Meets with students and parents regarding Service Animal requests.
  • Adheres to all applicable professional safety standards and practices in the nursing field, including requirements set forth in federal and state law, and Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
  • Attends staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Head of School.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college/university required.
  • Registered professional nurse, designated as R.N. as defined and determined by state law, and currently licensed in Colorado required.
  • Current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Experiences working in a community or school setting desirable.
