Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 – March 31st 2027.)

Under the general direction of the Clinical Nurse Coordinator, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Pacemaker Clinical Nurse is responsible for performing nursing functions pertinent to patient care and pacemaker assessment, to include: informing the Clinical Coordinator of needs and special problems; counselling patients and their families; acting as a resource person; performing activities and functions arising from the management of malfunctioning pacemakers; ordering pacemakers and supplies as requested; acting as a liaison; receiving and assessing pacemaker transmissions; documenting patient care; contacting the Medical Director, Pacemaker Clinic for further referrals as assigned; attending Cardiology and CVT rounds; conducting bedside teaching and assisting with in-service instruction; maintaining and upgrading knowledge of pacemakers; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Two (2) years recent cardiac nursing experience required.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence with and knowledge of pacemakers and paced EKGs required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current CRNM registration required.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Self starter with mature, professional manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability.
  • Ability to function effectively under stressful conditions.
