Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate the accredited operations training programs, which includes licensed and non-licensed operators

Responsibilities

  • Develop, revise, and update training materials to ensure technical accuracy and content.
  • Conduct classroom, flow loop, simulator and in-plant training.
  • Develop, administer, grade, and control examinations and other appropriate evaluation tools.
  • Evaluate training programs, students, training materials, and recommend, track and implement improvements.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality training programs that comply with INPO and NRC requirements, industry criteria, and customer expectations. Participate in site and industry training assessments, audits and evaluations.
  • Maintain contact and alignment with nuclear station groups and activities and current training methodologies to ensure technical competence for providing the assigned training programs. Maintain diverse qualifications and skills to provide various classes and services.

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • High School/GED degree
  • 2 years related work experience
  • SRO

Desired Qualifications

  • Westinghouse Pressurized Water Reactor Senior Reactor Operator License

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Must possess sound computer skills and be familiar with MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills in all settings.
  • Must be willing to work various shifts to support the training schedules including evening and back-shift hours.
  • Must maintain unescorted nuclear plant access
  • Previous Operations Training experience which includes the following: Qualified in all training settings (classroom, simulator, OJT/TPE, developer) with a demonstrated sound working knowledge of the SAT process and experience in the NRC initial License examination process and INPO accreditation renewal process.
  • Previously licensed or certified at a similar plant design.
  • Proven self-starter, results oriented, requiring little/no supervision.
  • Ability to learn new software such as action tracking and Vision..
  • Ability to analyze work processes and procedures for determining training needs and to make process improvements.
  • Previous involvement with projects requiring interface with the NRC or INPO within the last three years.
  • Ability to plan, organize, lead and monitor major activities and projects

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility.

Specific Requirements

The incumbent must meet the minimum ANSI requirements for this position identified within the scope of Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011, Confirmation of Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications.

Individuals who do not possess the formal educational requirements specified under Basic/Required Qualifications may be considered if they possess acceptable alternatives as delineated in ANSI 3.1-2024.

  • Current or previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or SRO certification
  • 0.25 years of nuclear power plant experience
  • Shall have demonstrated knowledge of instructional techniques through training or experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain an SRO instructor certification
