Job Description

The Nuclear Quality Assurance Lead supports the Nuclear Quality Manager in the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Nuclear Management System (NMS) in accordance with CSA N299.2-16 requirements and applicable regulatory, customer, and company requirements.

This position serves as the designated deputy for the Nuclear Quality Manager and acts on their behalf when required. The Nuclear Quality Assurance Lead works closely with all departments to promote compliance, improve quality processes, support corrective action programs, conduct audits, and maintain the integrity of the Nuclear Management System.

The successful candidate must possess strong communication skills, sound quality management principles, and the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities

Nuclear Management System Administration

  • Assist in the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Nuclear Management System (NMS).
  • Serve as the delegated representative for the Nuclear Quality Manager during periods of absence.
  • Monitor organizational compliance with Nuclear Management System requirements and report deficiencies or improvement opportunities.
  • Support management reviews and quality performance reporting activities.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to improve processes, procedures, and quality performance.

Corrective Action Program

  • Assist departments in the development, implementation, and verification of effective corrective actions.
  • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis activities utilizing accepted problem-solving methodologies.
  • Monitor the status of Corrective Action Requests (CARs) to ensure timely completion.
  • Support closure verification activities and effectiveness reviews.
  • Maintain corrective action records and associated quality metrics.

Audit Program

  • Participate in internal audits of the Nuclear Management System.
  • Support planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up activities associated with internal audits.
  • Participate in supplier audits and assessments as assigned.
  • Assist departments in preparing for internal, external, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Monitor and track audit findings through closure.

Document Control and Procedure Development

  • Assist in maintaining the Nuclear Management System document library.
  • Support document revisions, reviews, approvals, and distribution activities.
  • Ensure controlled documents remain current and compliant with applicable requirements.
  • Develop and revise technical procedures, work instructions, forms, and guidance documents.
  • Collaborate with process owners to improve documentation effectiveness and compliance.

Training and Qualification Administration

  • Support the Training Administrator in monitoring personnel qualifications and required training.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Develop and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and performance indicators.
  • Utilize Microsoft SharePoint, Power BI, Excel, and other Microsoft applications to manage quality data.
  • Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives using Microsoft 365 tools, including Copilot and Power Platform applications where applicable.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management review and audit activities.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a quality assurance, quality control, engineering, manufacturing, military nuclear, or related technical field.
  • Military quality assurance experience may be accepted in lieu of civilian quality experience.
  • Experience supporting quality management systems, corrective action programs, audits, or compliance activities is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Working knowledge of quality management system principles.
  • Understanding of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action methodologies.
  • Experience participating in audits or compliance assessments.
  • Experience writing technical procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.

Computer Skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Outlook
  • SharePoint
  • Teams
  • Microsoft Copilot

Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Lists, and other Microsoft 365 productivity tools is desirable.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work and reside in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain customer-required site access or security clearances, if required.
  • Travel required up to 10%.
  • Occasional overtime required to support audit activities, management reviews, customer assessments, and critical business needs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and compliance-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CSA N299.2-16, NQA-1, ISO 9001, ASME NQA-1, or other regulated quality management systems.
  • Nuclear industry experience.
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with supplier qualification and supplier audit activities.
  • Experience developing quality metrics and reporting dashboards.
