NUCLEAR QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER

Location: Burlington, Ontario

The Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineer for ASME /NQA-1/N285/ N299 /ISO Quality Programs reports to the site Quality Assurance Manager. This candidate will be a technical expert within the Quality department, providing Nuclear Technical input on product quality, continuous improvement, and manufacturing quality aspects. The candidate will also be expected to help maintain the Quality Systems by performing internal and external supplier audits, supplier quality management, driving corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction, and leading continuous improvement projects related to COPQ reduction and Customer fulfilment improvement.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, audit, onboard, and maintain Supplier List.
• Conduct audits of internal and external suppliers’quality manuals on as need basis.
• Manage supplier-related non-conformances, deviation requests and quality documentation approvals, etc.
• Investigate customer issues/ internal issues regarding our product quality and facilitate immediate resolution through permanent corrective actions.
• Lead the corrective actions and root cause analysis for discrepant processes and materials. Implement and facilitate lead long term changes for continuous improvement and preventive action process.
• Perform functions on discrepant material, including working with other functional areas within the facility and off-site locations to contain and correct the immediate situation, drive to the root cause, and prevent future non-conformances.
• Develop and implement nuclear quality control plans (inspection & test plans) for manufacturing processes throughout the facility.
• Work with local ANI and customer inspectors. Manage stakeholder approvals.
• Prepare for and participate in 3rd party audits of our Quality Systems.
• Be an expert resource for nuclear quality processes e.g., Nuclear Codes and Standards etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Working experience in a Quality Management Systems environment (ISO 9001/ NQA-1, ASME Sec III, N285, N299).
• Hands-on experience with various codes i.e. ISO 9001, CSA N299, CSA N285, or ASME and NQA-1.
• Experience with supplier quality maintenance and development, including supplier site audits.
• Working experience with the development of inspection and test plans.
• Non-conformance reporting requirements.
• Experience with root cause analysis, problem solving, and quality statistical analysis.
• Working experience with supplier audits and maintaining the approved supplier list.
• Participated in internal and 3rd party certification audits (ISO 9001, ASME, CANPAC).
• Expertise in reading engineering drawings and mechanical inspection tools and methods.
• Strong interpersonal skills, communication and writing skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
• Effective time management skills.
• Manufacturing of Pumps/ Pressure vessels.
• Comfortable with a changing, fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in all MS products: Excel, Word, Power Point etc.
• PC skills: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Minitab.

Education and Experience

• A relevant degree in Quality Assurance and/or Engineering.
• 5+ years direct working knowledge and experience in manufacturing with extensive use of standards and codes (ISO/ ASME/ N285 / N299).
• Knowledge of ASME Codes – Sec II, V, IX, (Inspection & Materials, NDE, and Welding).
• Experience in Sec I, III & VIII (Both design and quality systems).
• Experience in interfacing with Customers, ANI, 3rd party inspectors, and suppliers.
• Experienced in manufacturing of pumps/pressure vessels.

Pay Range: The base pay range for this position is $90,000 – 100,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
