Pay Range: $50.16 - $74.74
Nuclear Medicine - Bend, Oregon
Relief Differential: 15%
This position is within the OFNHP bargaining unit. Step placement is determined by years of experience.

Shift differentials under the OFNHP are currently as follows:
Evening: $2.50/hr.
Weekend: $4/hr.
Night: Starts at $10/hr.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: St. Charles Health System Diagnostic Imaging Departments perform X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT exams in a variety of locations. We work closely with our partners at Cascade Medical Imaging to meet the imaging needs of our community and to support the ED, OR, Inpatient Floors, and Family Birthing Center.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist at St. Charles Health System performs Nuclear Medicine procedures and related duties at a technical level not requiring direct supervision in accordance with recommended Nuclear Medicine regulations, guidelines, standards, and protocols. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Performs Radionuclide Diagnostic exams, therapies, and procedures.

Prepares radioactive isotope for administration to patients including all necessary quality controls.

Reviews physician orders, enters orders and documents in the EMR and PACS appropriately.

Performs nuclear stress testing and have basic knowledge of EKG.

Inserts intravenous catheters and injects medication and radioactive isotopes.

Operates all equipment within the Nuclear Medicine Department.

Quality Control procedures and calibration of equipment.

Knowledge of Oregon Radioactive Materials License requirements, Radiation Safety policies, and pertinent record keeping.

Follows Health and Safety Policies and procedures of quality patient care.

Assists with special projects as requested.

Participates in student training program and orientation of new personnel.

Maintains a thorough knowledge and adheres to the radiation Safety Guidelines outlined in Oregon Radioactive Materials License, Oregon Rules for the Control of Radiation, the hospital ALARA Policy, and as directed by the SCHS Radiation Safety Committee.

Utilizes AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank) to prepare patients for procedures by creating an environment where the patients feel comfortable and communicated with regarding the experience in Radiology

Delivers customer service and/or patient care in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate.

May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.

EDUCATION:

Required: High school diploma or GED. Graduate /registry eligible, of an Accredited Nuclear Medicine Training Program.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required: Current OBMI and eligible for ARRT and/or NMTCB.

Preferred: N/A.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: N/A

Preferred: Two (2) years full-time experience as a certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Experience in SPECT/CT, PET/CT, nuclear computer enhancement, and Nuclear Cardiology.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Category: Patient Care Level #3

Continually (75% or more): Standing and walking, keyboard operation, use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.

Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 1-25 pounds. The use and operation of a motor vehicle for Home Health and Wound Caregivers.

Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/stepstool (varies by area), reaching overhead, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 25-50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, ability to hear at whispered speech level.

Rarely (10%): Climbing stairs.

Never (0%): Climbing ladder/stepstool (varies by area), operation of a motor vehicle.

Exposure to Elemental Factors
