Introduction

Raleigh Radiology facilities and free-standing outpatient imaging centers are located in Wake County, N.C., and surrounding areas. Raleigh Radiology is seeking a skilled and motivated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures while ensuring exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This role functions with a high degree of independence and professionalism and serves as a collaborative member of the healthcare team.


Diagnostic and Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform ordered nuclear medicine procedures safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established protocols and Raleigh Radiology policies.
  • Prepare, administer, document, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain radiation detection and measurement equipment, ensuring accuracy and readiness for use.
  • Maintain accurate records related to radiopharmaceutical handling, equipment calibration, and regulatory reporting.
  • Support radiation safety initiatives, including coordination of Radiation Safety Committee activities and maintenance of required licenses and renewals.
  • Ensure economical use of supplies and maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized clinical environment.
  • Assist physicians and colleagues with procedures and patient care as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Patient Care and Clinical Assessment

  • Obtain, document, and communicate comprehensive patient histories, including vital signs, medications, allergies, and relevant clinical information.
  • Conduct ongoing physical and psychosocial assessments before, during, and after procedures, responding appropriately to patient needs and changes in condition.
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures, aftercare, and follow-up instructions, documenting all education provided.
  • Initiate emergency measures, including CPR, and follow established protocols for adverse reactions or emergent situations.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Communicate pertinent clinical findings promptly and effectively to radiologists and other healthcare professionals to support accurate interpretation and continuity of care.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Foster open communication and contribute positively to a service-oriented, respectful, and team-focused work environment.
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, courtesy, and compassionate patient-centered care.

Requirements

III. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE

A. Education Certified in Nuclear Medicine technology (NMTCB certified or ARRT(N) certified)

B. Experience: MINIMUM 5 years experience in hospital or office setting. Must be able to work independently

C. Certification

1. CPR is required or must be obtained within the first 6-months of employment. Continuous certification in CPR is required.

2. Registered technologist – RT-R (N) or NMTCB.

D. Licensure: None
