Location: This position travels to two locations, 4210 W Linebaugh Ave & 3665 Madaca Lane.
Nuclear medicine technologists are direct patient caregivers. They perform dose preparation and administration functions for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purpose; perform patient procedures, process, and enhance images, and prepare images for interpreting physician to view.

• Performs diagnostic nuclear medicine, therapeutic nuclear medicine, PET scanning, cardiac stress lab functions, andradiopharmacy functions as required. If a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), may also perform diagnostic CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.• Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care. • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures. • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.• Performs all nuclear medicine dynamic, static and functional procedures required by specific studies.• Performs SPECT and SPECT CT imaging as required by guidelines or physician order.• Performs PET imaging on a rotational basis as outlined in written procedures or directed by interpreting physician, as required.• Performs all computer acquisition, and processing and documentation as required by procedure.• Performs quality control on all Nuclear Medicine instrumentation as outlined by written procedure or manufactures guidelines.• Orders and administers radiopharmaceuticals including positron emitters as required.• Maintains records as outlined by the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control.• Performs all safety checks as outlined by the Florida Department of Health, Radiation Control.• Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of radiopharmaceutical and medication administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. If a Nuclear Medicine Technologist is dual certified as RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT), may alsoadminister contrast as required by guidelines or physician order.• Prepares radiopharmaceutical doses and calculates exact patient dosages as required by law and maintains records of such.• Assists in the administration of therapeutic radioactive materials with an authorized user.• Participates in the corporate ALARA Radiation Safety Program.• Ensures safety of all customers.• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and otherfederal, state, and local standards.• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.Other Related Functions• Participates in Process Improvement activities.• May be required to work at any facility.• Provides safe patient transport.• Handles, disposes, and decontaminates radioactive materials, while maintaining records of such under the regulations of theFlorida Department of Health, Radiation Control. Maintains a working knowledge of all procedural changes and equipment updates.• Demonstrates professional judgment and decision-making skills as required; solicits supervisory input as appropriate.• Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the patient studies.• Responsible for patient and family education of the studies being performed.• Participates in ensuring compliance with applicable regulations including but not limited to OSHA, The Joint Commission, FDA,NRC, EPA, and the Florida Department of Health.
Education/TrainingGraduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Licensure/CertificationMust meet ONE of the following in totality:Maintains current certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) –OR Maintains current certification as an (ARRT) (N) American Registry of Radiology Technologists in Nuclear Medicine
Must meet ALL of the following:• Maintains current Florida State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
ExperienceNone. Must have knowledge of Nuclear Medicine equipment, procedures, and radiation safety.
