As Head of Institutional Client Group (ICG) in HSBC Bermuda, you’ll oversee relationship management and business development for a portfolio of major Bermuda-based multinational insurance clients. You’ll set the direction for the in-country ICG team and bring together HSBC’s product and coverage specialists to deliver high value solutions across Corporate & Institutional Banking. Success means growing revenue and product penetration while maintaining strong credit quality and sustainable returns in line with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP). You’ll stay close to clients’ strategic priorities and connect them with capabilities across Bermuda, New York and London. You’ll also play a visible role in the senior leadership of Banking in Bermuda, contributing to the strategic direction and financial performance of the bank.

Main responsibilities:

• Set business strategy and a growth plan for Institutional Client Group clients in Bermuda
• Oversee relationship management and business development across a portfolio of major multinational insurance clients
• Build and maintain trusted advisor access with Treasurers and C-suite decision makers through a proactive client contact program
• Coordinate origination and execution across Corporate & Institutional Banking products and services, partnering closely with product specialists
• Advance revenue growth and key financial metrics in line with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and longer-term strategic plans
• Identify corporate finance and capital markets opportunities including debt and equity solutions, derivatives and structured finance
• Monitor credit dynamics and exposure across the portfolio, escalating opportunities and potential issues early and managing risk capital deployment
• Maintain HSBC control standards and ensure compliance with relevant internal policies and external rules and regulations, including timely closure of audit and regulatory points
• Develop the performance and capability of Relationship Managers, Analysts and Administrators through clear objectives, coaching and development plans
• Represent HSBC Bermuda on external bodies and forums as required

Requirements:

• Bring substantial experience across corporate finance, capital markets and relationship management within institutional banking
• Demonstrate established expertise in capital markets origination including syndicated loans, bonds, medium term notes, private placements and equity capital markets
• Apply deep knowledge of credit and lending including credit origination and loan documentation with experience of syndicated lending
• Show proven capability across transactional banking products such as custody, payments and cash management on a global platform
• Offer strong understanding of risk-return decision making and the deployment of risk capital in a regulated environment
• Bring knowledge of insurance sector dynamics including rating agency methodology and US and Bermudian insurance accounting and regulation
• Evidence a track record of building relationships with senior decision makers and growing share of wallet through coordinated product delivery
• Demonstrate experience managing and developing teams through performance management, succession planning and coaching
• Communicate effectively across stakeholders and geographies, partnering with colleagues across Bermuda, New York and London
