Basic Job Functions:

We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Lab Supervisor. The role of the Lab Supervisor includes, but is not limited to:

  • Supervise Sheet and BM lab technicians, including development and training, coordination of schedules, and handling issues.
  • Maintain calibration of all sample preparation equipment and testing equipment, including preventative maintenance and calibration of certification equipment and tools located in the mill.
  • Optimize turnaround time of lab results, automation, and reducing time between retests and expediting hot orders.
  • Develop relationships with sales, operations, and IT teammates for expediting rush orders.
  • Forecast necessary expenditures as they relate to the expansion of Berkeley’s production and product mix.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited University or equivalent
  • Experience with mechanical testing principles
  • Experience with steel or related industrial manufacturing processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Metallurgy or Materials Science/Engineering
  • Entry-level knowledge in programming/database access
  • Mechanical, Electrical, and software troubleshooting knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of ASTM, JIS, and Euronorm testing standards, as well as automotive standards
  • 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
