Purpose of Job

The NPI Sourcing Manager will support development and implementation of strategic sourcing activities in assigned suppliers and/or commodities; with goal to obtain the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. The NPI Sourcing Manager will support the implementation of NPI project launches by utilizing a global tool kit, evaluating cost reduction ideas, supply base optimization, contract negotiations, global strategies, and supplier risk assessments.

Key responsibilities

Utilizing the agreed tools, including financial and non-financial inputs to influence and drive decisions within division. Demonstrate insight and understanding of component cost drivers to develop negotiation strategies and present learnings to global NPI procurement teams. Drive adoption of the tools within the division.

• Own/Lead the implementation of contracts (i.e.Supply Agreement, Development Agreements) with increased global impact per guidelines. Provide coaching and support to team members on negotiations.

• Manage strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, to ensure a broader divisional view for risks and escalations. Demonstrate ability to pull together cross-functional teams with supplier to resolve issues within the division and gain group alignment.

• Ability to identify systemic trends, and themes across divisional supply base

• Active early project engagement to have impact on supplier development, financial models and target costs.

• Develop business case proposals to drive future transfers, dual sourcing, design changes, etc. Utilize influencing skills to drive organizational commitment to implement projects.

• Ensure clear communication channels between supplier and Styker stakeholders to drive resolution and mitigate project risks. Ability to proactively identify how issues may impact other projects within division.

• Identify and lead supplier negotiations with impacts across multiple projects

• Ability to represent the BU and divisional NPI Procurement needs to a wider stakeholder group for events such as: tool development, supplier business reviews, process improvements, kaizen events, etc.

• Confidently forecast savings during launch planning and future savings opportunities utilizing previous experiences and business knowledge.

• Coordinate with global stakeholders to close gaps/opportunities to support procurement strategy and implement solutions within the division scope.

Education/Training/Languages/Computer literacy SKILLS

  • Financial Acumen: Monitor supplier/commodity finances and trends to identify risks and opportunities
  • Negotiation: Lead cross-organization contracts,
  • Software: Advanced Excel skills (Pivots, Formulas, Charts, etc)
  • Presentation skills: Present to Level 2 and 3, within organization
  • Organization: Coordinating tasks with other and being a primary point for project information
  • Lean: knowledge of tools and lean skills, lead problem solving activities, own key metrics and actions, drive improvement activities within project
  • Leverage knowledge for negotiations and financial estimations, strong tie in with global category team
  • Stakeholder Mgmt: Influencing, Prioritization, Escalation, Communication, Excellent interpersonal skills (able to express ideas and collaborate effectively) with division and project teams, with occasional oversight. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and influence cross-functional team members, as well as external contacts.
  • Must be detailed oriented with strong organization skills.
  • Must be self-directed and have a willingness to become a Subject Matter Expert for the department and team.
  • Working knowledge of Negotiation and Supply Agreements.

Experience Special knowledge

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Management, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field.

• 10 + Years experience minimum

• Knowledge and application of supplier contract strategy, negotiations, contractual terms, and contract administration.
