NPI (New Product Introduction) Planner coordinates and manages the planning, scheduling, and material readiness for new product launches, ensuring smooth transitions from development to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and Scheduling: NPI Planners develop and maintain detailed product schedules, translating master production schedules into executable work orders and shop floor plans to support daily production and on-time product releases
Cross-Functional Coordination: They collaborate with engineering, supply chain, production, and business teams to manage the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept through launch
Material and Inventory Management: Responsibilities include tracking hardware requirements, managing procurement, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring inventory readiness to meet project timelines
Risk Mitigation: NPI Planners identify potential supply chain or production risks, develop mitigation plans, and proactively resolve issues to prevent delays 1
Reporting and Analysis: They prepare and present reports on project status, risk assessments, and opportunities for process improvement, often using ERP/MRP systems for data management.
Mentorship and Guidance: Senior NPI Planners may mentor junior planners and provide strategic guidance to cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, Business, or a related field
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze supply chain data, forecast demand, and optimize material flow
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, capacity planning, and inventory management tools
