This group provides products and services in the areas of radar, communication systems, sensors, antennas and other electronics systems to the missile, radar/sensor system, communications, control systems, data acquisition, and signal processing markets. The company has developed products ranging from chip-level, application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) to complete, turnkey radar and communication systems. TSC has established a state-of-the-art hardware capability that is well respected by customers in Government and industry. TSC also provides full spectrum systems engineering support including theoretical analysis, requirements generation, interface control, and test planning/execution/data analysis.

As an NPI Engineering Technician – Mechanical Focus at TSC, you'll be a key hands-on contributor to new product introduction efforts, working alongside Manufacturing Engineering, the Design/R&D Engineering team, and Operations to build and mature electro-mechanical products from early prototype through production readiness. If you thrive in a fast-paced, build-it-and-improve-it environment where your workmanship and practical problem solving directly shape product launch success, then consider contributing your skills to TSC.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble prototype and pre-production electro-mechanical hardware including boxes, chassis, sub-assemblies, and finished assemblies from drawings, work instructions, and engineering direction
  • Support development and improvement of assembly processes and sequences in coordination with Manufacturing Engineering to increase repeatability and first-pass quality
  • Create, update, and refine manufacturing documentation including work instructions, build travelers, visual aids, as-built records, and redlines
  • Design and build simple assembly fixtures, jigs, handling tools, and poka-yoke aids under engineering guidance
  • Provide practical DFM/DFA feedback during builds, identifying issues with assembly access, hardware selection, cable routing, fastener strategy, and serviceability
  • Support Production Readiness Review (PRR) preparation by collecting build evidence, identifying gaps, and contributing inputs to NPI readiness checklists and workbook artifacts
  • Maintain strong workmanship, ESD, FOD, and safety practices in lab and production environments
  • Provide surge support for assembly, cable builds, and prototype integration as needed
  • Cross-train with and serve as backup to the NPI Engineering Technician – Electrical Focus

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of relevant electro-mechanical assembly or manufacturing technician experience; or Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 3+ years; or Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and 1+ years
  • Strong proficiency with hand tools, torque tools, measurement tools, hardware installation, and cable routing
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and BOMs
  • Experience documenting build issues, redlines, and as-built conditions
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting NPI, prototype builds, pilot builds, or production readiness activities
  • Experience contributing to PRR or transition-to-production milestones
  • Experience creating or refining work instructions, travelers, and operator aids
  • Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles and fixture or tooling design and fabrication
  • Basic CAD competency in SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar
  • Working knowledge of IPC workmanship standards including IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or IPC-7711/7721
  • Experience in an aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Active DoD security clearance

TSC Benefits:

TSC offers a stable work environment, a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package, including ESOP contributions, 401k Matching Program, Flexible Work Schedules, Tuition Reimbursement, Paid Leave and much more.
