Job Description

/Purpose:

We are looking for Team Leader to join our global FACTS New Product Introduction (NPI) team. The position will be based in Tampere, Finland.
Grid Solutions delivers mainly high power (>100MVAr) Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC), Fixed Series Capacitors (FSC) and Synchronous Condensers (SC). These are used to control power system voltage and reactive power flow as well as to improve the power system stability and transmission system efficiency. FACTS devices are also typically used to enable the integration of renewables to the power system making the future power system more sustainable. Energy transformation towards generation of electricity from renewables have significantly increased the markets for FACTS devices and R&D needs for the power system stability products. Our mission is to enable sustainable future while keeping the power system stable. The FACTS Solution line for power electronics-based products STATCOM and SVC is in Tampere, Finland, while the Solution Line for FSC and SC is in Saratoga Springs, United States.

In this position, your main responsibilities will be leading of NPI control application and system design team as well as the technical leading and managing NPI and New Technology Introduction (NTI) projects. The programs will be focused on power-electronic based SVC and STATCOM solutions. You will be reporting to global FACTS NPI Program Leader. On top of Team Leading, special focus will be on new technology and future solution projects as well as cost-optimization projects. In this position, you are expected to support the work of team members as well as hands-on contribute to the technical solution and the solution delivery. Key targets are to make sure that resource needs and allocations are properly managed and R&D projects you are leading are executed on time and on budget.

Experience on power electronics devices, FACTS systems, and components are critical on top of the team leading and project management. Background and understanding of power systems, control systems, systems design as well as electrical energy storages are considered as significant benefits. Experience on simulations with different tools is also important. In this role, you have opportunity to work on international environment and get insight on state-of-the-art technology used in high-power grid-connected power-electronic applications. In addition, you have unique possibility to contribute to more sustainable and climate friendly future power grid.
