Job Description

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a fast-paced, innovative nonprofit seeking an organized, motivated individual to join our Government Affairs team. Our mission is to empower people with breakthrough research to make informed choices and live a healthy life in a healthy environment. The Northeast Regional Outreach Manager position is a full-time position. The successful candidate will support EWG’s efforts to build partnerships with external organizations and community leaders in the northeast in support of EWG’s state-based pesticide campaign strategy

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support efforts to build and maintain relationships with external organizations, companies and community leaders in the northeastern United States in support of EWG’s pesticide campaign priorities.
  • Attend meetings, conferences and events related to EWG’s pesticide campaigns.
  • Contribute to EWG’s planning and execution of virtual and in-person pesticide education and advocacy days in the northeastern U.S.
  • Aid the efforts to identify and cultivate new partnerships in northeastern state legislatures.
  • Assist the Outreach Director with maintaining a database of EWG partners.
  • Participate in EWG’s pesticide advocacy efforts, including meetings with legislators, government agencies, press conferences, and education and advocacy days.
  • Develop pesticide materials to support outreach efforts, including research, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with organizations, companies and community leaders.
  • Minimum three to four years of advocacy and/or legislative experience.
  • Experience with state campaigns is preferred but will also consider candidates with federal experience.
  • Legislative advocacy and education experience, preferably in legislatures, government agencies or other nonprofit organizations.
  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, and Google suite).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the environment and public health issues (strongly preferred).

Location Northeastern U.S., preferably near a state capitol.
