LSUAM HSE – Office of Educational Research (Eugene Kennedy)

Arts education is a priority area for federal, state, and private foundations, yet securing this funding requires specialized domain knowledge that our current development and sponsored research teams lack.
Alignment with Grant Mechanisms: Funding opportunities from bodies such as the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the Department of Education’s Arts in Education programs, and numerous private arts-focused foundations (e.g., The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, local community foundations) demand proposals grounded in current pedagogical research and measurable outcomes.
Increased Proposal Competitiveness: A specialist in arts education can articulate the intrinsic value and measurable societal impact of our programs with authority. This expertise is crucial for developing compelling grant narratives that directly address foundation priorities, such as social-emotional learning, and STEAM integration.
Filling a Knowledge Gap: A research-active faculty member or specialist is uniquely positioned to identify emerging research trends, collaborate internally with departments (Education, Psychology, Fine Arts), and structure projects that meet the strict criteria of major governmental and philanthropic solicitations.
Job Duties: 100%
1. Preparation and submission of large, multi-year grant proposals.
2. Direct support to other faculty members seeking arts-related funding.
3. Creation of compelling, donor-ready case statements for arts education initiatives.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will remain open until filled.
Minimum Qualifications:
A terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Arts Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field.
Interested and qualified candidates are required to submit a letter of application describing interest in this position and qualifications; a current vita; official transcripts; and the contact information of at least three references – including phone numbers and email addresses. Must pass a satisfactory background check.
