The Wm Michael Barnes ’64 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISEN) is hiring for a part-time Visiting Professor of the Practice level with industry experience in industrial and systems engineering and/or data science/engineering. This is a 5-month academic appointment. It is anticipated that the appointment will begin in January 1, 2027.
In ISEN, many of the 31 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 16 teaching-focused faculty (APT) hold several national distinctions, including the Frank and Lillian Gilbreth Industrial Engineering Award, the Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award, Fellow of IISE, HFES, ASME, and ASEE, and Editor-in-Chief. The department has strong and vibrant research programs in Advanced Manufacturing, Data Science, Human and Health Systems Engineering (Human Factors and Ergonomics), and Operations Research. The ISEN student population is comprised of over 700 undergraduate students (sophomore to senior level) and over 200 graduate students. Job required duties will include developing and teaching a stacked ISEN 489/689 DAEN 489 course on "Agentic AI for the Industry". Additionally, contributing to the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department's signature industry engagement initiative - Applied Research and Outreach Hub, in terms of research project development and scoping.
The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, and must be certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Lean Master, certified as a Software Development Scrum Master, and show multiple years of industry leadership experience.
