Job Description

The Department of Public Service and Administration at The Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, seeks a part-time, non-tenured Visiting Associate Professor of the Practice to teach one graduate course, PSAA 660: Domestic Terrorism, during the Fall semester starting August 1, 2026. This is a 4.5 month appointment. The ideal candidate will bring substantial practitioner experience and an applied perspective to the study of domestic threat environments. Successful candidates will be expected to carry out a vigorous program of teaching at the graduate level.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Master’s in Strategic Studies or a related discipline.

The candidate must have:

  • Substantial practitioner experience in domestic terrorism, homeland defense, and/or counterterrorism policy and operations.
  • Experience with interagency coordination and domestic incident response, including Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) and whole-of-government response frameworks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) and/or weapons of mass destruction (WMD) preparedness, response, or consequence management in domestic incident scenarios.
  • Senior-level operational leadership (military, federal, state, or local) in planning and executing complex crisis response operations.
  • Prior graduate teaching, executive education, or professional training experience; ability to facilitate applied, case-based instruction and scenario-based tabletop exercises.
  • Evidence of ability to bridge academic frameworks with real-world decision-making and structured analytic approaches in the classroom.
