
The Division of Performing Arts at the University of New Haven invites applications for an engaging full-time Instructor of Music (NTT) beginning Fall 2023.

University of New Haven enrolls approximately 6,900 students, including nearly 1,800 graduate students and more 5,100 undergraduates - the majority of whom reside in university housing. Through its College of Arts and Sciences, Pompea College of Business, Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, Tagliatela College of Engineering, and School of Health Sciences, UNH offers more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Our growing and vibrant music program has thriving majors in Music Industry, Music Technology, and a liberal arts major in Music. Our curriculum combines the study of popular genres, global music traditions, and European art music, examining contemporary music and evaluating the intersection of music and commerce with respect to its cultural and societal context.
We seek a versatile scholar who would be responsible for teaching a broad range of on-ground / in-person courses on musical practices and repertoire. Possible teaching might include "Writing about Music", genre and repertoire courses within the candidate's area of expertise (e.g. "Jazz History", "History of Rock", "American Roots Music") as well as the development of new courses to serve students as they navigate the 21st-century musical landscape.
Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills, a graduate degree in music (terminal degree preferred), and experience teaching at the college level.
Additionally, ideal candidates will have an appreciation for the value of a liberal arts education and music’s role in the campus community as well as experience engaging a diverse student body with diverse interests.
