Position Summary
The Non-Registered Polysomnographic Tech assists with sleep disorder evaluations and treatments under the Sleep Lab Manager.  This role assists with in-center polysomnography and home sleep apnea testing, helps ensure accurate data acquisition and documentation, and provides direct patient education and high-quality, compassionate care in accordance with facility protocols and applicable standards.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Prepare, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure accurate recordings and safe operation
- Complete patient intake and orientation, including assessment, education, consent verification as applicable, and accurate documentation
- Apply and secure sensors/electrodes and complete patient hook-up in accordance with AASM standards and facility protocols
- Monitor patients throughout testing, recognize and respond to events/artifacts, and intervene appropriately to support patient comfort and data quality
- Review, score, and annotate studies following data acquisition, ensuring complete and accurate records for provider interpretation
- Support onboarding and training of new staff and participate in ongoing in-services, competency maintenance, and process improvement

Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED, required. Completion of A-STEP educational modules administered through the AASM.
- Licensure and Certifications: BLS, required. National sleep credential preferred: RST (Registered Sleep Technologist), RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist), SDS (Sleep Disorders Specialist), or CPSGT (Certified Polysomnographic Technician).

Experience: Previous experience in a sleep lab, preferred (including in-center PSG and/or HSAT). Experience with patient education, PAP titration support, and accurate study scoring/documentation is preferred.
- Professional Development: Successful completion of department training and competency validation required. Eligibility for, and progress toward, professional credentialing in sleep (e.g., RST, RPSGT, or CPSGT) is preferred and may be required within an established timeframe based on department policy.

Work Environment: This position will spend 60% of the time walking and/or standing while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 40% of the time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position may be exposed to communicable disease and bodily fluids. This position will serve a culturally and linguistically diverse patient population.
