Job Description

Buffalo Catering Employees LP is looking to fill Non-Journeyman Cook positions at our lodge, located near Fort McMurray, AB. The successful candidate will prepare a wide variety of foods, while ensuring the highest quality of food possible. Duties will include meal preparation, inventory, administrative tasks, safety and teamwork. NJM Cooks must work in a friendly and efficient manner with the client and all staff, manage special requests, and ensure the smooth working order of the site. Reporting to the designated Supervisor, the successful candidate will work 20 days on and 10 days off rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the First Cook, the NJM Cook will prepare and cook menu items as they are received in accordance with established menu specifications.
  • Ensure all daily, weekly and monthly cleaning lists are completed.
  • Ensure all food storage areas are organized and clean;
  • Ensure food quality, food safety and service standards are met and maintained daily;
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures by following company Safe Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of culinary experience working in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Experience with high volume baking is an asset.
  • Alberta recognized Journeyman Cook Certification is preferred.
  • Food Safety certification valid in the province of Alberta for the duration of your employment is a requirement.
  • Advance Food Safety is considered an asset.
  • Current, valid First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to move, lift, carry, pull, push, and place objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
