Job Description

Knik Construction is seeking qualified Local Traffic Control Flaggers to support construction projects in Nome, Alaska. This position involves controlling traffic through active work zones to ensure the safety of the traveling public and construction crews.

Responsibilities
• Control the movement of vehicular traffic through construction work zones
• Follow approved traffic control plans and instructions from the supervisor
• Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control signs, cones, and markers according to the traffic control plan
• Use hand signals, flags, and signage to direct traffic safely
• Warn construction personnel of approaching vehicles that fail to heed traffic control signals
• Inform drivers of detours and proper routes through work areas
• Record license plate numbers of traffic violations when required for law enforcement
• Assist with one way traffic control by coordinating vehicle movement from both directions

Requirements
• Current ATSSA Flagger Certification (required)
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
• Good eye hand coordination and situational awareness
• Ability to react quickly and appropriately to unexpected situations
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be physically capable of standing for long periods in adverse weather conditions
• Good eyesight and hearing (corrected vision acceptable)
• Must pass a pre hire drug test

Wages
• Davis Bacon prevailing wages, in accordance with the project contract
