Job Description

Job Summary: Serves as the on-site Shipping and Receiving Clerk. Performs receiving job functions. Assists the Production Supervisor on an as needed basis with shipping tasks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

SHIPPING:

  1. Work with the shipping/receiving team to ensure the successful accomplishment of responsibilities assigned in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Work with S&R Manager by completing all assigned paperwork responsibilities daily.
  3. Review order status report daily and plan shipments to minimize labor costs, while meeting or exceeding customer requirements.
  4. Assist S&R Manager in communicating to the S&R Team daily outbound and inbound expectations.
  5. Review finished goods inventory and coordinate with production on shortages.
  6. Assist S&R Manager to ensure all shipping deadlines are met.
  7. Communicate with customers regarding routing requirements.
  8. Request and evaluate transportation quotes to minimize transportation costs via both phone and utilizing internet-based software.
  9. Prepare shipping documents as needed.
  10. Load shipments on to trucks by operating forklift and utilization of all hand equipment.
  11. Coordinate with customer service to provide accurate and up to date information regarding customer orders.
  12. Movement and storage of finished goods in an organized and secure manner ensuring stock rotation.
  13. Perform the duties of shipping/receiving employees in their absence, when necessary.
  14. Shipping Inspections – Perform and document daily to ensure compliance with Lighthouse Quality System & customer requirement.

RECEIVING:

  1. Unload shipments from trucks with forklift and all other hand equipment.
  2. Receive all incoming products, materials and items, inspecting for damages, verifying items and quantities against packing slips as well as purchase orders.
  3. Secure all received and existing materials in an organized, safe and consistent manner, providing for proper rotation.
  4. Process and enter all receiving, inventory and other required paperwork promptly and accurately.
  5. Utilize company software to accurately document all goods received.
  6. Submit paperwork daily documenting received orders along with receiving log to Accounts Payable.
  7. Maintain files pertaining to all warehouse activities in a neat and orderly manner.

GENERAL:

  1. Support/assist warehouse teams at all locations as needed.
  2. Assist S&R Mgr. with production, receiving, and procurement to identify and correct stock irregularities in a timely manner.
  3. Participate in regular inventory counts.
  4. Consistently follow all Lighthouse procedures as detailed in the Lighthouse Quality System.
  5. Strive to continuously improve the efficiency of the systems and operational aspects of the manufacturing, inventory control, quality shipping, receiving, and sales order systems.
  6. Conduct all business in a positive, relationship-building manner at all times ensuring that your function in the Shipping/Receiving department is successfully integrated into Lighthouse production, inventory, accounting and quality functions.
  7. Follow all ISO procedures as required.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: High school diploma or GED required. Must have strong basic math skills and be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English.
  2. Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of and ability to effectively communicate with multiple business functions, strong customer service, supervisory and organizational skills, proficient in general computer skills, internet applications, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word applications, excellent forklift skills and ability to obtain and maintain certification.
  3. Experience: Basic knowledge of shipping/receiving/inventory, and warehouse operations. Experience must include clerical, planning, and loading.
  4. Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervision responsibilities.
  5. Physical: Able to lift 50 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, stand and walk on a regular basis. Operate forklift on a regular basis. Able to travel throughout the facility to safely and effectively manage all work responsibilities, breaks and emergency evacuations, with or without a reasonable accommodation. Able to manage all self-care needs and activities of daily living as required to support successful employment, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  6. Personality: Dependable, cooperative, organized, detail-oriented, team player.
  7. Working Conditions: Inside and outside, office and warehouse setting.
  8. Work Schedule: Flexible schedule, 40 hours per week, and overtime as needed.
  9. Background Check and Drug Test Required: Employment is contingent based upon satisfactory results.
