GENERAL PURPOSE OFJOB
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Manager supervises organizes and directs the work of the NNP’sbothatDCHandtheunitssupportedbytheNeonatalRegionalizationSupportProgram(NRSP) The NNP Manager under general supervision organizes and directs the work of the NNP’s and programs; coordinates staff to assure that effective NNP services are provided, and quality standards are met. Staffing consists of NNP’s scheduled and as needed. The function of the
NNP Manager is to developand maintain an environment that supports the NNP’s within the Driscoll Health System and its affiliates A multidisciplinary team approach to care is utilized. The function of the NNP Manager is to develop and maintain an environment that supports the professional nurse, medical, and ancillary staff.

  • Maintains utmost level ofconfidentiality at all times
  • Provide oversight and support for the neonatal units supported by Driscoll Children’s Health
  • System.
  • Provide oversight and support for the Neonatal Regionalization Support Program
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures
  • Actively support and promote a professional practice model that encourages APN participation
  • in thedevelopment ofclinical standards that is collaborative, c o l l e g i a l and utilizes current trends and data in professional practice (clinical and administrative). Openly support and consistently communicate the mission ofthe n e o n a t a l unit and their organizations.

    Assure coordinationparticipation ofthe APNs on department and organization wide councilscommittees
    Manage, supervise and coordinate delivery of patient care for assigned patient care area on a 24- h o u r basisEnsure compliance with clinical patient care standards and established policies and procedures
    Assist Director a d m i n i s t r a t i o n with maintainingclinical competencies f o r assigned clinical areas and provides care as needed
    Assess/coach and evaluate APN level of practice. Develop programs that foster continued clinical development to positively impact patient care and career satisfaction ofAPNs
    Assist Director a d m i n i s t r a t i o n with maintaining required unit records, reports and statistics for administrative p u r p o s e s.
    Ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality control (POCT); PI,safety, environment and infection control. Communicate requirements to APNs and hold APNs accountable toestablished requirements. Coordinate the development,
    i m p l e m e n t a t i o n and evaluation of policies andproceduresdesigned to improve operational efficiency. Assist with coordination of QC/PI activities with APNs
    Assist Director administration in overseeing various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performanceappraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations a n d other related activity
    Coordinate the activities of APNs with other hospital personnel; accountable for the effectiveand efficient operationof the unit and staff including ensuring that orders, treatments, plans of care, clinical pathways arebeing carried out in a manner supportiveofpatient care and
    recovery. Ensure documentationof patient care iscomplete and accurate in accordance with hospital and unit policies and procedures
    Collaborate with the Director administrative team to determine fiscal requirements of the unit and assist withthe preparation of budgetary recommendations Monitor the levelofresources utilized in service delivery and determines theappropriateness of resource
    consumption i n the service. Develop action plans in conjunction with the Directorto ensure budget and resource efficiency, and satisfaction with patient care delivery
    Promotes and monitors regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations f o r the practice ofall aspects ofnursing
    Promotes family centered concept by functioning as a liaison with the family, guest relations, and appropriatepersonnel
  • Functions as a liaison with all service physicians and ancillary services on a day-to-day basis

Education:

  • Registration and current licensure in the State of Texas as
  • appropriate
  • _MSN required
  • _ Certification in area ofspecialty preferred
