Employed by the London Borough of Camden the Project Coordinator will usually be based at the Edmonton EcoPark working for the North London Waste Authority (NLWA), serving Camden and six other north London boroughs.

About the Role

We have fantastic opportunities for a Project Coordinator to join the North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP) supporting the Programme Director and wider project delivery. The roles are site based in Edmonton, North London, with some scope for hybrid working.

The post holder will take lead responsibility for ensuring the efficient smooth running of the client site office, managing a busy schedule through effective diary management, and undertaking project tasks such as technical meeting planning and minute taking. You will be managing small to medium projects will full support and training from the wider team.

The role is varied and there is scope to grow. The project is a complex publicly funded Energy Recover Facility (ERF) delivery which is underway with the Main Contractor on site. There is a strong emphasis on risk, project controls and governance. You will proactively engage with members of the team and partner organisations and use knowledge and judgement to help the project achieve its priorities.

The postholder will assist and learn from NLHPP engineers and project managers to review design submissions, technical queries, method statements, commissioning plans, and ensuring compliance with IChemE contract requirements and NLWA technical standards. You will strengthen your capability as a Project Coordinator by using technology to develop design solutions for and participate in the mitigation of complex risk matters. Innovation and strategy development are key, with contributions expected through research and data use.

You will collaborate with and support the wider organisation with administrative and project support and carrying out business management duties such as dealing with change requests, purchase orders, administering reports and more.

About You

  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to plan ahead to ensure the smooth running of cyclical processes.

  • Willingness to look after all the little details which keen a site office running smoothly and facilitate a high-quality visitor experience.

  • High levels of initiative in the initiation of activity and commissioning of work to others and the ability to follow through actions to ensure that progress is made, and that others keep to deadlines.

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to assist researching and analysing information and produce high quality reports, presentations and briefings in a meaningful format.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to changing use of IT to support changes in ways of working, such as the use of desk top publishing software and the ability and experience to tailor / establish PowerPoint presentations on behalf of the senior officers.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, negotiating and influencing with a wide range of stakeholders, whilst showing a high level of diplomacy and confidentiality in the provision of excellent customer care. Adapt style according to the audience and the needs of others.

  • Ability to work as part of a team including experience of working directly with senior officers.

  • Facilitation and coordination of new starter inductions.

Be flexible on dealing with a range of activities at work with a “can-do” attitude.

North London Waste Authority serves 2 million residents in the boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest. We manage about a quarter of all the rubbish and recycling in London and run programmes to help residents and businesses reduce their waste and recycle more.

North London Heat and Power Project are the Authority’s £1.2 billion project to provide new infrastructure on the Edmonton EcoPark, including a new Energy Recovery Facility. The project will ensure environmentally sound waste management for the foreseeable future in north London. Our vision is to create a waste management facility in which local communities can take pride, that demonstrated value and is a model for public sector project delivery.
