ABOUT THE ROLE
The Night Shift Production Supervisor oversees all evening and overnight production operations across large format, prepress, press, bindery, mail, and fulfillment departments within a high-volume, multi-shift print and mail manufacturing environment. This role supervises all employees working the 2nd and 3rd shifts within assigned departments and is responsible for ensuring completion of production goals and assigned tasks.
This role is responsible for driving production excellence, ensuring cost efficiency, and consistently meeting on-time delivery requirements. Combining hands-on leadership with cross-functional coordination, the supervisor supports the production of offset, web, digital, large-format, and hybrid campaign production while aligning teams and workflows across departments. This position is critical in upholding the organization’s standards for quality, precision, reliability, and environmental responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and manage night operations to meet production and quality standards.
- Coordinate planning activities with departmental managers to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Support department managers in evaluating employee performance.
- Train, mentor, and coach employees.
- Address performance issues when necessary, following company discipline guidelines.
- Controls and minimizes labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
- Maintain facilities and equipment; repair, replace, or adjust as needed.
- Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs.
- Promote shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
- Adhere to all facets of safety policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of production leadership experience in commercial printing, packaging, or direct mail.
- Strong understanding of offset and digital press operations, bindery, and mailing logistics.
- Proven ability to lead multi-shift teams and manage high-volume, deadline-driven production.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- May be required to complete and pass Public Trust Security Clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regular walking on a cement production floor for varied durations.
- Exposure to medium to high noise levels in a manufacturing environment.
- Frequent lifting of items up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional minimal lifting of office equipment and supplies.
- Adequate hand dexterity and physical strength for job-related tasks.
- Flexibility in work hours may be required to meet production demands.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position works on the production floor in an industrial warehouse setting.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
