Job Description

Packaging Operators are responsible for sorting, assembling, inspecting, and packing products according to company and customer specifications. This role ensures all finished goods meet quality standards and are properly prepared for shipment.

You have the responsibility as an employee at Akro-Mils to make a good quality product to exceed our customer expectations. You have the authority and responsibility to initiate recommendations to resolve problems and continuously improve our Quality Management. Duties and Responsibilities

• Obtain, sort, trim, clean, assemble, and pack products efficiently according to specifications.
• Utilize computer systems to locate information and print labels.
• Ensure packaging meets shipment and customer requirements.
• Inspect parts and cartons at each stage of the packing process to ensure quality.
• Stack cartons on pallets by hand, secure with banding, and label skids.
• Notify supervisors of any required repairs or issues with packaging machinery.
• Accurately record information such as quantities, dates, and initials for tracking purposes.
• Assemble cabinets, KeepBox lids, pack dividers, and operate single-part stations independently.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while following all safety guidelines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• No prior manufacturing experience required.
• Ability to follow basic instructions and safety guidelines.
• Comfortable performing repetitive tasks and standing for extended periods.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Understands how one’s job contributes to the success of the organization as a whole
• Work in teams and independently to color sort, visually inspect product.
• Work in teams to solve problems, complete tasks, and meet shipping schedule.
• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Perform related duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for 12 hours (7pm-7am or 7am-7pm, with breaks)
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as required
• Eye to hand coordination in order to assemble and trim parts safely; Use hand to finger, handle, or feel.
• Vision required in the job: close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
• Lifting - proper and safe technique to maneuver and lift up to 25 pounds

Work Environment

• Moving Mechanical Parts – safely, conscientiously maneuver near moving parts
• Manufacturing / Packaging environment
