Night Porter

Set in beautiful Studland, our busy, family-friendly and dog-friendly hotel is looking for a Night Porter to join our Front of House Team

This is a key role within the hotel, responsible for providing warm, professional hospitality to our guests throughout the night, while helping to maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm and efficient welcome for late arrivals and process early check-outs in line with hotel procedures.
  • Manage the night shift effectively, ensuring all company policies, procedures and standards are followed.
  • Maintain the safety and security of our guests, colleagues and property throughout the night, including carrying out regular security patrols.
  • Complete the end-of-day process accurately and ensure all required reports are produced.
  • Follow all night audit procedures and complete the relevant checklists.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, maintenance issues or health and safety concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Ensure guest accounts are accurate and that any outstanding payments are processed and recorded before departure.
  • Take and manage guest reservations in accordance with company guidelines, using the hotel's property management system where required.
  • Ensure all relevant company policies and legal requirements are followed, reporting any concerns or shortfalls to the Front of House Manager.
  • Engage with guests and actively encourage feedback, helping us to anticipate and meet their needs.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all night-time emergency procedures.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of the local area, including local attractions, activities, events and other hotels.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the Front of House systems and confidently carry out check-ins, check-outs and new reservations.
  • Assist the Food & Beverage team with breakfast preparation and service.
  • Provide holiday cover within the Front of House department, including daytime reception and additional night shifts as requested by the Front Office Manager.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by management, Duty Managers or Heads of Department.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is reliable, professional and genuinely enjoys looking after people

You will ideally have:

  • Experience within the hotel, hospitality, leisure or customer service industry.
  • The confidence and ability to work independently and take responsibility for getting the job done.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with a strong eye for detail.
  • The ability to use your own initiative and make sound decisions when working alone.
  • A calm, positive and can-do attitude, particularly when working under pressure.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
  • A passion for hospitality and a desire to contribute to the ongoing success of the hotel.
  • A flexible, enthusiastic and willing-to-learn approach.
  • A professional, friendly and caring manner.

Previous night-working experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Working Pattern

You must be available to work a 4 nights on / 4 nights off shift pattern, including weekends and public holidays.
