Life at Next
Where will Next take you?
Next is one of the UK’s best known retailers on the high-street and most established online. Behind the scenes we are at the cutting edge of Warehousing and Logistics, employing more than 9000 people across our distribution network.
Our success is dependent on the expertise and passion of our teams across the UK. Life at Next is full of challenges, it’s fast paced and just like fashion trends, the job is constantly evolving. We look after over 2 million customers; it takes a large, talented and efficient distribution operation to make that happen.
Let's take it on
As Night Operations Manager, you will support the Regional Service Centre across both Warehouse and Transport to achieve site objectives in terms of safety, service, cost and productivity through the effective management of Team Managers and Colleagues as well as the maintenance of company operating standards, Health and Safety, Compliance and Engagement.
You will drive efficiencies, ensuring that operations are integrated to achieve greatest performance in terms of productivity and service at least cost.
You will have accountability for the RSC Operation whilst on shift across both Warehouse and Transport as the manager in charge, and must be confident to manage the operation within budget parameters whilst at the same time maximise any opportunity to drive savings on cost and explain budget / reforecast variance, where identified.
Constantly reviewing methods and procedures in order to maximise productivity performance is key, whilst ensuring safety is not compromised. By establishing productivity tracking tools in order to identify where efficiencies can be improved and by continuous monitoring, you will provide clear targets for the team and provide appropriate and timely feedback on performance, presenting recommendations on potential performance improvement.
The Nights Operations Manager will ensure that ‘O’ Licence requirements are adhered to and Company regulations are complied with.
As an experienced senior manager you will lead by example, driving your first line managers to perform to the highest standards. You will support their coaching and development needs every step of the way to ensure that our managers are equipped with the skills they need to motivate and manage the performance of their team members. You will work closely with your team of various characters and abilities to truly understand their triggers and motivations so that you can inspire them to be the best that they can be and to recognise their potential.
Our Regional Service Centres are fast paced 24 hour operations so there will often be a need for you to make quick operational decisions and to use your initiative. Drawing on your previous management experience in a similar role, you will use your extensive operational knowledge to set achievable seasonal targets for your division, whilst ensuring that we maintain a safe working environment and high quality standards. Working closely with the Senior Management Team and Trade Unions where required, you will naturally identify and drive continuous improvements to meet our ambitious plans for the future of Next Distribution.
As well as impressive experience as a senior or shift manager from warehousing or logistics, we are looking for people with drive and enthusiasm to join our team.
