Buckinghamshire Mind is looking for 2 x Night Manager for Crisis Service- Safe Haven.

The Night Manager is responsible for leading the out-of-hours operation of Buckinghamshire Safe Haven across both sites (High Wycombe and Aylesbury) and plays a key role in ensuring safe, high-quality, trauma-informed crisis support; robust staffing and team work, effective multi-agency collaboration and continuous improvement against agreed outcomes and KPIs. The purpose of this role is to provide operational leadership and ensure Safe Haven provides a high quality of service to those who access support.

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Location: Across Aylesbury (Peach Tree House Whiteleaf Centre) and High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire Mind High Wycombe Office) according to Rota and service needs. Regular travel between sites is required.
  • Hours: Rota across 7 days, 6:00pm–12:00am (midnight) on a 8 -week rolling rota a including weekend and bank‑holidays. Additional 6 hours flexitime per week for daytime working
  • Salary: ÂŁ32,000 (FTE) plus enhanced hours payment of 30% on top of normal hourly rate for hours worked between 11pm-12am. This calculates as an actual pro rata payment of ÂŁ22,745.95 including the enhanced hours based on the hours as advertised.

Key Responsibilities
The Safe Haven offers a welcoming, safe, and non-stigmatising out-of-hours alternative to A&E, or secondary mental health care. It offers a safe place for emotional support, resilience building and person-centered support. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the safe, effective nightly operation of both Safe Haven sites, including rota oversight, shift leadership, and on‑shift decision‑making.
  • Line manage Team Leads and Safe Haven staff, providing regular supervision, coaching, and clear objectives as well as lead on recruitment, induction and training.
  • Represent Safe Haven at relevant multi‑agency meetings to support coordinated care and service development.
  • Produce concise service reports and contribute to funder and SMT reporting; analyse trends to inform improvement actions.

The ideal candidate will have Significant experience managing services for vulnerable adults in a mental‑health or closely related setting, with proven line management of multi‑disciplinary or support teams.

  • Substantial experience in out‑of‑hours crisis work, including risk assessment, de‑escalation and decision‑making under pressure.
  • Calm, decisive leadership in high‑pressure environments; excellent judgement on risk, escalation and prioritisation.
