Position Summary: The Night Auditor at The Holiday Inn Express Hotel is responsible for overseeing the front desk during the overnight shift, ensuring the accuracy of hotel financial reporting, balancing daily transactions, and providing excellent guest service during nighttime hours. This role combines accounting duties with front desk responsibilities to maintain smooth hotel operations overnight.

Key Roles / Responsibilities:

Front Desk Duties:

  • Greet and check-in/check-out guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer phones, assist with guest inquiries, reservations, and special requests.
  • Monitor hotel security and guest safety during overnight hours.
  • Respond to emergencies or issues and escalate as necessary.

Audit & Accounting Duties:

  • Process and reconcile the day’s transactions, including room charges, taxes, and payments.
  • Balance and verify revenue totals for all departments.
  • Prepare and distribute daily reports for hotel management.
  • Post charges and adjustments to guest accounts as needed.
  • Ensure proper backup and documentation of daily financial activity.

General Duties:

  • Ensure the lobby and front desk area are clean and organized.
  • Prepare the hotel for the morning shift (e.g., wake-up calls, breakfast setup coordination).
  • Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s in hospitality or accounting a plus)
  • Prior experience in hotel front desk or accounting preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with hotel property management systems (e.g., Opera, PMS, or similar)
  • Proficient with basic computer applications (MS Excel, Word)

Working Conditions:

  • Ability Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
  • Moves throughout the building to access files.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
