Job Description

SUMMARY

The Niemann Harvest Market Bulk Food Specialist is responsible for ensuring superior customer service in their store. They must drive sales and profitability, and maintain effective expense and payroll budget management. They will also ensure compliance with effective inventory management, merchandising practices, and all store policies and procedures while fostering the Niemann Harvest Market culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivers superior guest service and ensures absolute customer satisfaction
  • Learns and uses the three E’s: Engagement, Educate, Empowerment
  • Customer engagement: Suggestive selling, sampling
  • Educate customer on bulk shopping
  • Knows seasonality, use, and taste of products offered
  • Responsible for all bulk products sold in store (such as grains, flours, dried fruits, candies, nuts, spices, etc.)
  • Quality assurance checks of department
  • Proper handling and rotation of product
  • Promotes and supports established programs
  • Day-to-day operational procedures to ensure stock level, inventory, and cleanliness
  • Promotes sales
  • Works with other departments to set up pairings and tastings
  • Works within company programs, policies and procedures
  • Connects and builds relationships with Producers and Makers.
  • Follows the latest trends and sources out those products to make them available to our guests.
  • Follow all Health Code guidelines
  • Works within company programs, policies, and procedures
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures; is a safety role model
  • Other duties as assigned

PAY RANGE (depends on industry experience)

Starting pay will be based on experience, internal equity, and scope of responsibility.

It was 1917 when Ferd Niemann, Sr. and Steve Niemann opened their first grocery store. It took a lot of hard work and progressive thinking, but they succeeded. By 1930, they were operating 10 corner grocery stores and a thriving wholesale business. In 1940 Niemann Foods, Inc. introduced the first full service supermarket to Quincy, Illinois. It is this same hard work and forward thinking that has guided two more generations through steady growth to become the largest independently owned supermarket chain in central Illinois.

Today, more than 100 grocery, pet food, hardware, pharmacies and gas stations are part of the NFI family and continue to serve their respective communities with a commitment to taking care of their customers.
