RN Director – NICU | Margate, FL

  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Schedule: Days (No Weekends)
  • Compensation: $47.08–$68.62/hr (based on experience)
  • Sign-On Bonus: Case-by-case
  • Relocation Assistance: Case-by-case

A Level III NICU in the Margate region is seeking an experienced RN Director to lead a 17-bed neonatal intensive care service, supporting approximately 1,500 births annually. This leadership role oversees clinical operations, regulatory compliance, staff performance, quality outcomes, and resource utilization. The Director will work closely with Clinical Nurse Coordinators and multidisciplinary partners to ensure a high-performing, family-centered neonatal environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced NICU Director or a strong NICU Nurse Manager from a high-performing Level III or Level IV environment who is ready for the next step in leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all NICU services, ensuring alignment with organizational quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

  • Oversee day-to-day departmental operations, staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization to support optimal patient outcomes and efficiency.

  • Develop, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff, including four Clinical Nurse Coordinators functioning as assistant nurse managers.

  • Maintain responsibility for departmental fiscal performance, productivity, and cost management.

  • Foster collaborative, family-centered care models, serving as a liaison to physicians, caregivers, and patient representatives.

  • Ensure compliance with neonatal clinical practice guidelines, accreditation requirements, and evidence-based care standards.

  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing NICU outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational effectiveness.

  • Maintain active clinical engagement as required, supporting bedside care to uphold standards and competency.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current Florida RN license or approved multistate RN license (per state requirements).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

  • BLS certification (within 30 days of hire).

  • NRP certification (within 90 days of hire).

  • STABLE certification (within 60 months of hire).

  • Minimum 3 years of NICU Director experience in an acute care environment.

  • Must have hands-on NICU clinical experience within the last 3 years.

Considered

  • Strong NICU Nurse Managers with 4–5 years of leadership experience in a high-performing Level III or Level IV NICU.
