JOB SUMMARY: Participates in the implementation of hospital policies and procedures. Maintains open communication with all staff to promote improvement in performance. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities.
Educator works collaboratively with the department director, supervisor, the DON and all of the compliance team to support in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational needs for all NICU staff; specifically focusing on policies/procedures, and staff development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes the department(s) and its services into the organization’s primary mission, including any developments and changes to the NICU dept.
- Facilitates orientation, in-service education, training and continuing education for all persons in the department.
- Develops, updates, and supports the policies and procedures, in Policy Stat, that guides and support the provision of services and comply with current recommendations.
- Demonstrates an ability to identify and resolve problems. Uses initiative and good Judgement to reach quality decisions.
- Reports problems/concerns with staff members to the NICU Supervisor.
- Maintains an effective rapport with patients, visitors, physicians, and directors.
- Fosters effective collegial relationships with other educators, charge nurses & mentors as well as staff.

Qualifications
Education/Certification:  Diploma from accredited nursing program.  Licensure as registered nurse in the State of Idaho.  Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certification and renewal as required. NRP and STABLE Instructor or within 6 month of hire.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience in a level 3 NICU required.
Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge.
Mathematical Skills:  Basic
Mental Capabilities: Cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care. Demonstrates good judgment and analytical ability in preparing work for review.
Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.
Performance:  Able to exercise discretion and independent action within prescribed limits.  Demonstrates effective delegation skills. Maintains calm and effective behavior during stressful situations. Demonstrates knowledge of current computer systems used in the organization. This position will require someone who is dedicated and innovative.  Someone who will help progress the unit to grow, expand and adjust to any changes made in efforts to expand our NICU.
