About the Client
Yorktown Search Partners has been exclusively retained to recruit an NHLPA-certified agent on behalf of our client, a first-of-its-kind legal-first global sports agency. The firm integrates elite athlete representation, contract negotiation, arbitration, branding, and cross-border advisory services.
This confidential search is to establish and lead the hockey division across Canada and key U.S. hockey hubs.
Key Responsibilities
Athlete Recruitment & Representation
Sign junior (CHL, NCAA), AHL, and NHL players
Scout and recruit elite talent from European leagues (KHL, SHL, Liiga, DEL) for NHL transitions
Build relationships with scouts, development coaches, and hockey academies
Contract Negotiation & Arbitration
Negotiate NHL entry-level, veteran, and free-agent deals
Lead arbitration cases supported by an integrated sports law team
Ensure compliance with NHL CBA and cap structures
Endorsements & Media
Secure sponsorships with equipment brands, apparel, and regional/national advertisers
Collaborate with branding/media teams to elevate player visibility and marketability
International Player Pathways
Manage EU-to-NHL transfers
Provide cross-border tax and residency advisory for U.S./Canada/EU-based players
Qualifications
NHLPA Agent Certification (Required)
3+ years of experience representing NHL or professional hockey talent
Proven track record in player signings, arbitration, or major contract negotiations
Strong network in junior, NCAA, and international hockey markets
Deep knowledge of NHL CBA and arbitration frameworks
Bilingual (English/French) preferred
