Job Description

Hospice of the Piedmont is looking for a skilled RN Supervisor to lead our Nights, Evenings, and Weekends Team. This role is ideal for an experienced hospice nurse who enjoys mentoring staff, solving complex clinical challenges, coordinating care across disciplines, and delivering exceptional patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support NEWT RNs and LPNs while providing oversight to CNAs, Social Workers, and Chaplains.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and support payroll processes.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, including conducting performance evaluations.
  • Oversee interdisciplinary care delivery and ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Provide direct patient care during scheduled shifts and periods of high patient volume.
  • Partner with leadership and quality teams to support compliance, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, with at least 2 of them in hospice nursing.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and knowledge of hospice regulations, documentation standards, and quality practices.

Typical Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Work may occur in office, clinical, patient home, or community settings
  • Must be able to work in home environments that have difficult working conditions including, but not limited to cramped space, pets, dirt, allergens, smoke, no chairs
  • It may be necessary at times for employees to work beyond scheduled work hours to ensure adequate patient care
  • Communicate by phone, writing, typing, speaking
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, reach, kneel, walk, stand, balance and talk to hear
  • Able to push, pull, or lift 50 pounds, push up to 200 pounds in a wheelchair
  • Drive short or long distances in the dark
