NewsNation Segment Producer, Morning in America (Chicago)
NewsNation is looking for a Segment Producer to join the team for its weekday flagship morning broadcast, Morning in America. This role involves contributing story ideas, compiling elements, and crafting engaging live segments on a wide range of topics. The Segment Producer collaborates closely with the Executive Producer, Senior Producers, and Line Producers to ensure accurate and compelling broadcasts. The position is based at the network headquarters in Chicago.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Produce live guest segments and correspondent hits for Morning in America.
Collaborate closely with NewsNation correspondents to produce compelling and accurate live hits and update with new details throughout the show.
Locate strongest possible elements to be used in guest segments and live correspondent hits - including video, graphics, lower thirds - and load them into the rundown quickly and accurately.
Write, organize, and produce scripts, including but not limited to teases, VO readers, longer form Q&As, and tracked packages.
Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of stories.
Assist in the control room if needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadership.
Requirements & Skills:
Experience producing for a national news program or producing newscasts in a top 10 market.
Experience covering politics and government.
Strong news judgment.
Quick decision maker and creative thinker.
Effective coach and mentor to staff of all experience levels.
Collaborative team player who advocates for their show but find ways to elevate network reporting.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficiency with ENPS Proficiency with Adobe Premiere or another video editing software preferred.
Flexibility to work different shifts.
Salary Range: $80,000 - 95,000
