Northeastern Global News (NGN), Northeastern University’s award-winning, fast-paced, daily news organization is looking for a talented News Reporter to be based on Northeastern’s Boston campus.
The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist and versatile storyteller who is especially skilled at data, AI and science reporting – and can write engaging and deeply reported articles. The News Reporter should be ready to quickly jump on breaking news, providing commentary and analysis by faculty experts on timely topics that captivate national and global conversations.

This role is perfect for a journalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has great news judgment, and understands how to reach readers across digital platforms, particularly through data reporting and stories that highlight the increasing dominance of AI and its influence in transforming the workplace, health care and academia, among other sectors.

The experience should include analyzing complicated academic studies and data and translating them into deeply reported articles that are easily understandable to a wide audience, understanding scientific methodology, adherence to factchecking, and the ability to file daily stories under tight deadlines.

Reporting to the Executive Editor of NGN, the News Reporter is part of a team of journalists who work closely with media relations, social media and multimedia teams within Communications. It is a highly data-informed organization with ambitious goals and impeccable standards.
The position is based on the Boston campus and is fully on site, five days a week. Remote or hybrid work are not an option. As is the case for every member of the Communications team, after-hours work, including weekends and holidays, is routinely required.
