Job Description

The New York Post delivers the best in News, Sports, Entertainment and Pop Culture with wit, irreverence and authority. Over the past 224 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

The New York Post is seeking a Reporterfor its Sunday team They will be part of a strong group that creates the smorgasbord we call the Sunday New York Post.

We like fun and fearless generalists who can advance continuing world, national and local stories and generate new ones; investigators who live to unmask the corrupt; and tough reporters to cover every aspect of a tough city (don't be shy about your specialties).

The reporter will work full-time, five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday, in the midtown Manhattan office (and in the field as needed). They will produce exclusive, enterprise content for the Sunday print edition, as well as fast, breaking news reports for the Saturday website.

Responsibilities

  • Produce fast, clean, and compelling copy on breaking national and local news, often under intense deadline pressure, while maintaining the Post’s trademark clarity and punch.

  • Deliver both long-form and short-form journalism that reflects the bold, provocative, and highly readable tabloid voice that defines the New York Post’s Sunday edition.

  • Identify, vet, and elevate emerging storylines—from social buzz to developing crime, politics, culture, and human-interest angles—and quickly transform them into must-read, highly shareable stories.

  • Pitch and develop enterprise and exclusive stories that showcase strong reporting instincts, narrative flair, and an ability to uncover fresh angles that drive conversation.

  • Collaborate with editors, photographers, and digital producers to shape coverage, strengthen headlines, and optimize stories for print, web, and social platforms.

  • Uphold the Post’s signature style, standards, and accuracy, ensuring reporting is both authoritative and entertaining while adhering to ethical and legal guidelines.

  • Monitor live news events in real time, adjusting copy, headlines, and framing as needed to keep coverage sharp, timely, and competitive.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of high-level reporting experience covering local and/or national news with a strong record of breaking stories, producing exclusives, or generating high-impact features.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume newsroom, consistently delivering accurate, engaging copy on tight and shifting deadlines.

  • Exceptional news-gathering instincts, including demonstrated expertise in sourcing, verifying information, and navigating social platforms to confirm details during live or breaking news.

  • Strong command of digital publishing tools and best practices, with experience optimizing stories for audience engagement across web, mobile, and social; digital production experience strongly preferred.

  • Outstanding writing and storytelling skills with a sharp eye for tension, drama, and the type of narrative beats that resonate with tabloid readers.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

  • A deep understanding of the Post’s tone and sensibility, with a proven ability to write with voice, attitude, and authority.
