Job Description

The Daily Wire is seeking a sharp, fast-thinking News Editor to help lead our daily news coverage and uphold the highest standards of modern journalism. This role sits at the center of a dynamic newsroom, working closely with reporters and editors to shape breaking news, politics, culture, and other high-impact stories that inform millions every day. Reporting to the Managing Editor, the News Editor will play a key role in setting priorities, editing with precision and speed, and ensuring our coverage is accurate, fair, and aligned with The Daily Wire’s mission to deliver credible, compelling news across platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set and drive daily and long-term news strategy aligned with editorial mission
  • Direct coverage of breaking news and major developing stories
  • Provide editorial leadership across reporting and editing from assignment through publication
  • Guide reporters and editors to ensure clarity, accuracy, and strong editorial judgment
  • Lead newsroom decision-making during breaking news and high-pressure cycles
  • Uphold standards for speed, balance, and responsible journalism across coverage
  • Partner with legal counsel and senior leadership on risk, ethics, and reviews
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders on publication, placement, and distribution

Experience & Requirements

  • Background in journalism, communications, political science, or a related field preferred
  • Strong editorial judgment in news journalism
  • Exceptional editing and fact-checking skills
  • Proven ability to manage reporters and editors in a fast-paced newsroom
  • Deep understanding of news cycles, politics, and current events
  • Ability to make sound decisions under deadline pressure
