Description:

Alaska’s News Source is hiring a (PM) Anchor/Executive Reporter to lead and elevate our award-winning evening newscasts while mentoring and developing the newsroom’s next generation of storytellers. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced anchor and journalist who thrives in breaking news and real-time reporting, and who can coach reporters through every step of the process from research and interviewing to writing and execution. As a member of the News Leadership Team, you’ll help set newsroom goals, supervise the evening shift, ensure editorial quality by approving scripts, and anchor evening newscasts - including CTV live coverage. The Anchor/Executive Reporter is a key newsroom leader, expected to lead by example and fill in for other anchors and producers when needed.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Coach and oversee reporters/crews daily on story development, enterprise ideas, live-shot strategy, and high-impact storytelling.
* Anchor and executive-report major/breaking stories with urgency and accuracy across multiple evening newscasts and livestream platforms.
* Foster a positive, inclusive team culture; supervise the evening shift and full reporting corps at Alaska's News Source.
* Lead newsroom content and coverage planning by participating in editorial meetings through field execution and on-air presentation.
* Produce/Anchor live-streamed coverage on KTUU's digital/CTV platforms, including programming streaming tools and planning streaming-first segments.
* Coordinate closely with the news leadership team members and staff members to align linear, digital, and streaming priorities and ensure smooth live productions.
* Maintain editorial standards (accuracy, fairness, tone) and adjust coverage approach using digital performance/analytics.

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
* 5+ years of experience as a broadcast journalist (anchor and/or general assignment reporter) with a strong breaking-news track record.
* Demonstrated ability to lead newsroom coverage and coach reporters (formal leadership/supervisory experience strongly preferred).
* Exceptional on-air skills: confident live delivery, strong ad-libbing, clear writing-to-video, and the ability to stay composed under deadline pressure.
* Proven editorial judgment and commitment to the SPJ Code of Ethics and station editorial standards (accuracy, fairness, tone).
* Strong writing, producing, and storytelling skills across linear, digital, and streaming platforms; ability to generate enterprise and segment ideas.
* Working knowledge of newsroom workflows and systems (e.g., ENPS or similar) and comfort learning new tools quickly.
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing assignments in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment; results-oriented and highly organized.
* Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings M-F required) as well as mornings, days, weekends, and holidays as news or cover warrants) and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
* Valid driver’s license and ability to drive for business needs with an acceptable MVR
* Willingness to travel for news coverage as assigned
