Job Description

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrate strong interpretive skills and utilize various interpretive techniques through programming.
• Facilitate proper guest interactions with ambassador animals housed in our interactive tanks.
• Conduct programs following a set outline.
• Must be comfortable presenting information to large groups of guests in both formal and informal settings, with the use of a microphone.
• Enthusiastically share facts and conservation messaging with guests in inspiring and meaningful ways.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Must be self-motivated to work independently, as well as disciplined and reliable.
• Perform and adhere to, Herschend Enterprises' Core Values and Newport Aquarium Operations Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest services operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Leadership Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have strong public speaking skills.
• Must possess a fun, dynamic, and friendly personality.
• Must read, write, and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages a plus).
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Knowledge of marine life a plus.

PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• No history of allergy related to animals or plants, which might interfere with ability to work
• Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time
• Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
