Job Description

As part of a new initiative related to our recently approved DOL WORC grant extension, NewForce is recruiting for NewForce: Insights. The program will retain four stipend-eligible students per cohort at the same rate ($11/hour) and work schedule (35 hours/week) as the traditional program for a 3 month extension, during which trainees will collaborate on data analysis projects for Generation WV and its partners. NewForce: Insights team members will report to the NewForce Program Director during this time and will also meet as needed with an industry mentor for technical guidance. In addition to providing trainees project experience with real data, their work will also result in actionable insights for our organization, as well as any partners to whom we are able to offer service. This improves trainees’ marketability and improves organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

GOALS

  1. To provide additional training and project experience for newly-trained analysts as they navigate the job search process
  2. To provide actionable analysis and recommendations for GWV and/or partner programs

SPECIFICATIONS

The Insights team will work on projects as prioritized by the NewForce and GWV teams. Some anticipated projects are listed below:

  1. A job skills/market analysis of West Virginia and Central Appalachia to identify and assess skill gaps, job readiness, training needs, and other talent pipeline development insights.
  2. Analysis of nonprofit and community development data collected by nonprofit partners in WV.
  3. Other partner projects to be determined.

Requirements

  • Must be a stipend-eligible trainee
  • Please note, if a trainee secures other employment during the extension period, they will need to either:
    • Step down from the Insights Team, or
    • Continue with the project on a voluntary basis
