With your contribution and my contribution, together we will thrive.

Hei Oranga Iwi | The opportunity

As our New Zealand Consumer Business Development Leader, you will play a hands-on role in developing and growing some of EY’s most strategically important client relationships in New Zealand.

Approximately 80% of the role is client facing, focused on deepening senior relationships, driving global account strategy and rigorous account planning, and identifying opportunities for sustainable revenue growth. A significant focus will be on a small number of priority accounts across the food and beverage, dairy, consumer products and broader agribusiness ecosystem, alongside developing opportunities across other major New Zealand organisations.

Working closely with senior client stakeholders, EY Partners and account teams, you will develop a strong understanding of clients’ strategic and commercial priorities and bring together the right capabilities and expertise from across EY to address their needs.

The remaining approximately 20% will focus on New Zealand market leadership, internal collaboration and sales enablement, working with the New Zealand Country Managing Partner, Service Line Leaders and Partners to support market strategy, strengthen business development capability and drive collaboration across EY New Zealand, Australia and globally.

Based in Auckland, the role combines deep strategic account ownership and senior client engagement with broader influence across EY’s New Zealand growth agenda.

Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities

  • Strategic account growth: Develop and execute account strategies for priority New Zealand clients, strengthening senior relationships and driving sustainable revenue growth.
  • Account planning and opportunities: Lead rigorous account planning, identify client needs and growth opportunities, and connect these with relevant EY capabilities and solutions.
  • Pipeline and deal progression: Work with Partners and account teams to convert opportunities into pipeline and revenue, supporting pursuit strategy, value propositions and negotiations.
  • Industry-led business development: Apply strong market insight across food and beverage, consumer products/FMCG, dairy, agribusiness, manufacturing and distribution to understand client priorities and identify opportunities for EY.
  • Market and sales leadership: Work with the New Zealand Country Managing Partner, Service Line Leaders and Partners to support market strategy and strengthen business development capability.
  • One EY collaboration: Connect EY New Zealand with Australian and global teams, bringing together the capabilities, insights and expertise needed to respond to client opportunities.

Ngā Pūkenga | Skills and attributes for success

  • Strategic account and business development experience – Significant experience growing complex accounts and developing opportunities with senior and C-suite stakeholders, gained within professional services, consulting, technology or another complex B2B environment.
  • New Zealand market and industry knowledge – Strong knowledge of the New Zealand market, ideally with established relationships or experience across food and beverage, consumer products/FMCG, dairy, agribusiness, manufacturing, distribution or adjacent sectors.
  • Executive relationship capability – The credibility and influencing skills to develop trusted senior relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Commercial and strategic acumen – Demonstrated ability to translate client and market insights into account strategies, pipeline opportunities and revenue growth.
  • Opportunity orchestration – The ability to understand complex client challenges and bring together multidisciplinary capabilities and specialists to develop compelling solutions.
  • Collaboration and influence – The ability to operate effectively in a Partner-led, globally connected environment and mobilise teams around client opportunities.

Ideally, you will also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • An established executive network across major New Zealand organisations, particularly within food and beverage, consumer products/FMCG, dairy, agribusiness, manufacturing or distribution.
  • Experience developing and growing a small number of large, strategically important accounts and building relationships across multiple functions and seniority levels.
  • Experience working with organisations operating across complex supply chains, manufacturing or distribution environments.
  • Experience identifying opportunities arising from clients’ strategic, operational and transformation priorities.
  • An understanding of technology-enabled transformation and alliance ecosystems such as SAP, Microsoft and ServiceNow.
