What is the job?
This is a senior triage physiotherapy role within a fast-moving, clinically complex service. You will own the triage function end to end: reviewing referrals and clinical documentation, conducting structured telephone and video assessments, and determining the right care pathway for each patient.
This role does not include the delivery of treatment, but it is not a passive one. Our patients have often exhausted conventional pathways and present with complex, multi-layered needs. You will need strong clinical reasoning, confident decision-making, and a genuine drive to get the right outcome for every patient.
This role sits within a growing physiotherapy team at Montu. You will play an active part in shaping how the service develops, and there is real scope to grow with it. If you are looking for a steady, predictable caseload, this is not the right fit. If you want to build something, this is.
This is a full time role, working 40 hours per week. You will be required to work 1 Saturday per month, for which a day in lieu will be provided.
What you will be doing:
Triage and Assessment
Perform comprehensive triage of referrals and medical records to determine urgency, risk, and appropriate care pathway
Deliver telephone and video triage assessments using internal policies and clinical best practice
Identify exclusions, contraindications, and safeguarding concerns, escalating in line with Montu policy and national guidance
Care Coordination
Maintain accurate, timely clinical records
Signpost, refer, and escalate internally and externally as required
Service Development and Quality
Contribute to or lead pathway audits, SOP development, and outcome measurement
Support the creation of patient education materials and digital triage tools
Champion clinical governance, incident reporting, and continuous improvement
Play an active role in developing the physiotherapy function across the business
What you need:
Essential
HCPC-registered Physiotherapist; CSP member or equivalent
Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, with at least 2 at Band 6 or above
Demonstrable expertise in remote and telephone triage and safety-netting
Strong clinical reasoning and confident autonomous decision-making
Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to translate complex clinical information for patients
Comfortable in a fast-paced, tech-enabled environment including EMRs, telehealth platforms, and digital PROMs
Sound understanding of safeguarding, GDPR, and clinical governance
Desirable
Experience in pain management, cannabis-based medicinal products, or complementary therapies
Background in a start-up, scale-up, or high-volume healthcare setting
Experience developing SOPs, leading audits, or contributing to service redesign.
Competitive salary
25 days holiday (rising to 27 after one year & 30 after 2 years) + bank holidays
5% matched pension
Cycle-to-work scheme
